Melissa has a degree in Early Childhood Education and graduated with honors from Schoolcraft College. She has been working with children for over 27 years in numerous settings. Melissa has worked at St. James Preschool for over 14 years and was promoted to Director in 2018. She resides in Redford with her two teenagers, Mason and Addison, and her Puggles, Charlotte and Tucker.
Our Staff
Our experienced teachers have been with St. James for an average of 8 years and stay current in the field of early childhood education with a minimum of 16 clock hours of training each year. Their training is on many topics, including but not limited to: child development, health and safety, family collaboration, observation, assessment, and professionalism. They are all CPR certified with training in first aid and blood borne pathogens, and have all had background checks performed. They are also current on the “Safeguarding God’s Children” training given through the Episcopal Church.

My oldest has excelled in Kindergarten and 1st grade academically and more importantly, he’s a really good kid. My daughter is also very kind and has an amazing imagination - which is fostered at St. James and she has made friends she will keep for years to come. I have as well! The parents at St. James are very real, care about their kids and are very supportive of each other. ”
